turning green coffee beans into delightful cups of coffee

Hearthware i-Roast

the i-Roast machine

I bought my Hearthware i-Roast because I thought it was the best home-use coffee roaster available.

  • I loved the fact that I could play with all those temperature and time settings.
  • Roast size: Most important (after the geek-appeal of all those settings), was the fact that it does decent-sized roasts, up to 150gm per roast. If I had to make smaller roasts, that translates into MORE roasts, and then roasting your own coffee beans starts to become more nuisance than fun.
  • Ease of use: I punch in my numbers, press start, and walk away. They say that you should watch the roast, but it's too much like watching paint dry. I just stay within earshot, and when the coffee roaster machine stops making noise, I dump the beans into the cooling collander.

WHERE to buy i-Roast. You're unlikely to find any deep-discount deals. It's worth every penny of the manufacturer's suggested price, and everybody knows it, so if you're looking for half-price sales, forget it. Five bucks one way or the other is more typical. Therefore, it makes sense to buy from a source who gives a lot of extra value. That's Sweet Maria's.

They have broken this i-Roast into little bits and pieces to see how it ticks; they've done all kinds of testing; and they've published lots of tips and information about i-Roast on their website.

It's a no-brainer to support a company that gives so much extra. Besides, these people are a pleasure to deal with. And buying the i-Roast with the green coffee bean samplers is a great way for beginners to get up to speed.
